English singer-songwriter Ozzy Osbourne has become known as the "Godfather of Heavy Metal" with a career that has spanned over 40 years. Ozzy initially rose to fame as the lead vocalist and part lyricist of the English heavy metal band Black Sabbath. It was during these days that Ozzy became known as the "Prince of Darkness." He earned multi-platinum status with the band then he left the group in 1978 to pursue a solo career, where he achieved an additional multi-platinum status.
